NEWS

Hello Everyone, I hope that you are well.  I am very pleased to report that the gig & the time with the Throwbacks was brilliant.  The gig was to raise money for Cancer Research, and with help from Ethan Thomas, Mik Mead & the Unicorn, who allowed me to use the gig at the Unicorn on 6th Sept to add to the total.  The final total raised was £450!  So, thanks to all who contributed.

A special thanks to The Throwbacks: Colin, Desi, Fred & Rosie, such great musicians and such good friends.  Also thanks to our special guests: Chris Mcloughlan & Laura Firth, who both sang beautifully.  A fitting tribute to Chris Hunter.

Now looking forward to playing at Dorking Folk Club on 2nd October.   Be great to see you if you can make it.  Nick 24/9/24

Hell Everyone, I hope this finds you well.  I'm pleased to say that I have had a few really enjoyable gigs since my last message.  There was the really great weekend of music at the Unicorn  to raise money for Fix the Fells.  Some great music and over £300 raised.  Thanks to all who contributed.  There have also been a couple of lovely evenings, again at the Unicorn, put on by Earthwoode Music.  Firstly with Ethan Thomas and secondly with Pete Lashley.  Both Ethan and Pete produced fantastic sets.  I was also fortunate to play at the Furness Tradition festival at Ulverston and was very pleased that the wonderfully talented Bev Whelan was able to join me for a few songs.

I am very much looking forward to the Throwbacks arriving and playing to raise money for Cancer Research, in memory of the mush missed Chris Hunter.  If you are interested in coming, please get in touch.

Keep safe and hope to see you soon.  Nick 5/8/24

Hello Hello

Hello and Happy New Year to Everyone, I hope this finds you well.  I have been very pleased and flattered by the positive response to Another Fine Mess. This was exemplified by the review from Folk North West. Copies of the Album are still available, so please email if you would like to purchase a copy.  Also very pleased to see the finished album from Paul Goulding, which looks and sounds excellent.  Looking forward to the music day at the Unicorn Inn, Ambleside on the 24th Feb.  A day of different talents gathered by Earthwoode Music to raise money for Fix the Fells. Details of specific times to follow in due course.

Keep safe and hope to see you on the 24th.  Nick 15/1/24

Hello All, very pleased to announce that the new album is finally finished!  Huge thanks to all involved, including the musicians and singers, especially Sean Marshall & the much missed Chris Hunter.  Thank you too to Val Greeley and Patrick Corrigan for the brilliant artwork and to Dan Marshall of Protect the Moose and Shan Porter from Ditto Solutions for setting it up and to Clone Media for the wonderful reproduction, On 2nd Sept, there is small gathering to celebrate the album and remember Chris.  I'm very pleased that the Throwbacks will be there to help make it a great night.

Hello All, firstly apologies for a lack of communication for a while, a numbers of reasons, but ultimately age and incompetence are fairly prominent.  Sad to report the death of my long time friend and musical partner for more years than I care to mention, Chris Hunter.  However, pleased to announce some gigs coming up; firstly at the APC fund raiser on 7th May, with Mike Willoughby, Laura Firth, Close Quarters and Paul Goulding. Then on June 10th, in concert with Earthwoode Music, also appearing are Laura Firth & Jim Smith.  At the end of August/ beginning of |Sept, another gig to launch the new album, Another Fine Mess, with various guests, including the Throwbacks.  I am also pleased to have been invited back to Croydon Folk Club in September.

On the recording front, finished producing Close Quarters CD, which seems to have , rightly, been well received. Working on producing an album with Paul Goulding at present, which has been good.  My new album is nearly finished, just going through the final stages of remixing and editing.  Pleased to say that I have found someone to do the artwork, Shan Porter, an Ambleside resident no less.  It would be great to see you if you can make any of the gigs.  Stay safe.  Nick May 11/5/23
